Nicole Ari Parker has worked in television, film as well as on stage. She was best known for her character Teri (the spirited legal) Joseph. Nikki Kodjoe is her new name since she got married. The talent she displayed in her acting was apparent in her early years. A Maryland high-school competition awarded her the best actress award. Following her time in acting and in "The Washington Ballet Company" She was awarded an acting diploma from New York University. Born to Mumbai, India and raised in Nigeria from 7 years old, Contractor was well-versed in the world and an array of civilizations at an extremely young age. She was a boarding student in London between seven and nine, after which her family moved to Toronto, Canada, where she lived the bulk of her early childhood and adulthood. Contractor was a classical ballet student in Toronto. She also excelled academically. She attended the Etobicoke School of the Arts in Toronto, a fine arts institution focused on dance and theater. Contractor began acting at age 16, following nearly 10 years of dance. When she completed her high school education, she was awarded an entire scholarship to University of Toronto. At the University of Toronto she completed an MA in Theatre, and also double majored with Psychology and Sociology. Contractor was a student who'd spent a year in university was invited to audition during an open call for Pericles in the world-renowned Stratford Shakespeare Festival, [Ontario Canadawhich she won the part. The play received rave reviews and her performance during the 92 performances that the play was voted as the best production by Canadian reviewers in 2002. The conservatory in Stratford takes eight people with four females, and a handful of additional people to take a 20 week crash course. Her place was guaranteed in the next play as she was offered the character for the role of Hermia A Midsummer Night's Dream.
